Best Book Ever
This book, Keep the Fiath, is a relly good book. It will start with someone and stop, then start again with someone else. You don't stop thinking about the other person. It draws you into the book. I would recomend rerading this book. I started with book four and read five and six also. The book is about young people who have problems like we have today. Other books like this are Lurlene McDaniel books. Her books deal with people and things today. Keep the Faith, is a book that i would rate a five being the highest. the author did a great job of writing the book. I would recomend it to anyone who liked books of romance and of things that we deal with today. this is a really great book to read.

It's a great book
You should total read all the clearwater crossing books they deal with everything from lossing a friend to being in love. TRUST ME IT WAS A GREAT BOOK!!!!!!! SO READ THEM ALL!!!

A Man Called Blessed
Published in Paperback by Thomas Nelson (02 September, 2002)
Authors: Bill Bright and Ted Dekker
Average review score:

A wonderful read!
Continues where a Blessed Child leaves off. A wonderful story filled with plausible characters and great wonder. Both of these books fill the heart with promise and joy vice evil and corruption. The kind of book to recommend and keep on the shelf to loan or to give as gifts.

GODS powers
Caleb & family are finally living a free safe life & then...POW it alls comes back from his childhood. book- BLESSED CHILD,read this one 1st. The desert is such a dangerous place & using events right out of todays news makes this a wonderful exciting read...In the end GOD will prevail over evil, if we are lucky.. Dont want to give too much away.. A GREAT MIX OF DIFFERENT RELIGIONS, and how they view each other s Gods. Ted Dekker is the best in religious fiction...Two thumbs up for ted !!!!!

two heads better than one
This book really seemed to unite in teamwork more so than the first(Blessed Child). They deal with many subjects lines and characters and blend them all quite well. "Caleb" is definately matured into a charismatic character. I enjoyed how they explored the "concept" of what could actually happen if a Biblical artifact of that magnitude were discovered. Again Publisher's Weekly seems to be reviewing from a very narrow perspective!

Lions Of The Desert
Published in Paperback by Multnomah Publishers Inc. (October, 1997)
Author: Linda Chaikin
Average review score:

One of the best ever written by Linda Chaikin!
Wow! What can I say? This book is full of adventure, romance and intrigue during one of the worst times in the world's history. Allison Wescott is serving in a field hospital trying to get Major Bret Holden out of her mind and focus on her duties a year later after the events of 1914. Wade Findlay arrives as a medical intern and Allison decides to join him in treating wounded British soldiers near Baghdad. She was totally unprepared for Bret's reappearance in her life and the feelings that came along with him. After a tragedy near Baghdad, Allison goes home on medical leave. Little did she know that she will stumble once again into espionage and murder. Allison and Bret must find the murderer and the Egyptian treasure that everyone seems to want. A great story about finding love in uncertain times, faith in the Lord and courage. I heartily recommend this for a great exciting read!

One of the Best
One of the best books I've ever read,(and I've read a lot of Christian fiction). Chaikin does a great job of keeping you guessing. This book is full of action, suspense, and romance. It would make a great movie actually. The war scenes at the beginning are drawn out a bit long, but the suspense at Sarah Blaine's house more than makes up for it. After Book 1, I thought the second book would have to be of lesser quality, but I was wrong. Book 2 was even better! Now I can hardly wait to read #3. This book is a must read.

even better than the first! (if that's possible)
Again, I say wow! Linda Chaikin delights us again with the thrilling second book in the Lions of the Desert series. In this book, Allison Wescott is in the Arabian Desert, nursing wounded WWI soldiers in August 1915. Colonel Bret Holden has disappeared from her life, and she struggles to go on amidst all the pain and agony. Suddenly, Bret shows up again and she's swept into a whirlwind of events in the espionage ring again. She stays at the Blaine House with Sarah Blaine and there seems to be an invisible, mysterious intruder watching her every move! When seemingly innocent people are murdered brutally, Allison and Bret must look deeper...who can they trust? No one is who they seem to be...

This book will kep you thrilled till the very end. I highly recommend it!

Average review score:

Introduces and celebrates ordinary individuals
In The Lives And Legacies Of Everyday Heroes, Mark Britzman introduces and celebrates ordinary individuals who posses great character and who have established important legacies for future generations to consider and emulate. These "everyday heroes" are the kind of men and women we all want as family members, friends, neighbors, teachers, colleagues, and mentors. These are common people who's uncommon examples inspire us all to be everyday heroes our selves. Very highly recommended, positive, and inspiring reading.

Dr. Mark J. Britzman...........Outstanding Author!
I've known Dr. Mark J. Britzman for over 20 years and his character and integrity have always been solid and unquestioned!

A true paragon in the acme of his writing career! A strong positive "role model" himself as he champions the achievement of everyday people doing extraordinary things! His passion for people, especially young people, is legendary! He's also got a great sense of humor and a wonderful common-sense perspective.

Strongly recommend this author to everyone! Recommend he doubles the price of his book! So much value for such a low price! I wish him continued success and look forward to owning everything he produces!

The Lives and Legacies of Everyday Heroes
An exceptional book that lauds the everyday hero. Readers will be challenged to think of those who have made a difference in their own lives by actions of character.

Living Prayer
Published in Hardcover by J. P. Tarcher (August, 1998)
Author: Robert Benson
Average review score:

guide book to living out our faith
This little book is beautifully written, making you feel that you are with Benson, either in conversation or actually in his head. As he brings you through aspects of his spiritual search, you are also given seven or more ways to spiritually connect with God. I rarely keep books once I have read them, but this one will always remain on my shelf if not in my hand.

The Best Book on Prayer Ever!
This is Benson's finest offering. The writing is great; the thematic arrangement is outstanding. I read this book as I was beginning to discover the contemplative lifestyle, and this book helped me to understand the rhythms of prayer and of the church year. This is not a how-to manual: the chapters are descriptive of Benson's experience and of what he has learned in the art of prayer. Therein lies the power of the book: Because Benson does not tell us what to do, he has left us the freedom to join in the "Dance" in whatever way we can. He runs the gamut in prayer experience. From simple prayer, to journaling, to praying the hours, to keeping a journal, there is something in here for everyone who is on a spiritual journey to/with the Christian God, regardless of what stage they are at. This book and Benson's first, _Between the Dreaming and the Coming True_, are the ONLY books on the spiritual life that I recommend to people. They are that good! You cannot go wrong with this book.

I'll Never Be the Same
I had the privelege of meeting Mr. Benson at CBA (Christian Booksellers Association) in July, 1999. After a half-hour chat with him, I knew this humble, humble man could only write what my heart needed to hear! And was I right! This is the BEST book I've ever read on prayer life. I have bought a copy for everyone I know and some people I don't know! When I speak to audiences on prayer, this is the number one book I suggest! My advice to all reading this: If you buy only one book on prayer, make this one it!

Favorite Line: We must somehow stop offering ourselves in prayer and begin offering ourselves as prayer.

Amen!

Love and Responsibility
Published in Paperback by Ignatius Press (August, 1994)
Authors: Karol Wojtyla, H.T. Willetts, and Pope John Paul II
Average review score:

You'll never look at Love the same way
Karol Wojtyla's insight into human love is simply amazing. The book is VERY in-depth, so it may not be appropriate for readers who are looking for light reading material. If you do take the time to read the book, you will simply be amazed. As you read each paragraph, you can't help but think, "That is so true!" The book really makes you want to be better person by embracing LOVE as the purpose for our existence!

EXCELLENCE
you don't have to be a catholic to read this. This was written for anyone. It will give you philosophical answers to questions on us(persons) and our sexual role(its meaning and purpose.
highly recommended for any human being.

a blessing - 5 stars is not enough
Cardinal Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II) gives us a wonderful blessing with "Love and Responsibility." His in depth philospohical analysis of human love and sexuality stems from his philosophy of "personalism". Persons are self-determining creatures and should never be treated as mere objects. This is a fantastic book that beautifully displays Wojtyla's view of the dignity of the human person and the sacredness of the sexual act.

Worthy of special mention is Wotyla's metaphysical analysis of "love". This is a deep look into the nature of true love, how the sexual urge is the starting point, a good thing that encourages us to look deeper and to love the person as a whole. When this urge is abused by treating the person as a mere sex object, the fruits of the sexual urge are squandered. When used properly, the sexual urge is fuel to deepen our interests in another, to develop a friendship, goodwill, and if there is reciprocity from the other person, the highest stage is attained - betrothed love - the lifelong comittment of marriage.

This is a book that is sorely needed by our society today. There is much here - Wojtyla's thought is rich and deep. You will not get the grasp of his point with one reading, rather it will take multiple readings of this book for its flavor to sink in. Personally I have read this book three times and can testify how it has enriched my life. I think it will do the same for you.

Love Beyond Reason
Published in Hardcover by Zondervan (01 October, 1998)
Author: John Ortberg
Average review score:

Love that Gives Value
One of the most profound aspects of this book comes right in the introduction. John Ortberg mentions two types of love, a love that happens because of something seen of "value" in the beloved (talent, beauty, wit, etc.), and a love that creates value in the beloved (agape). The rest of the book is an explanation of how we are the beloved ones of God, and how we can live out that belovedness in a world where we feel we have to earn it. Many of the ideas in this book are parallel to those of Henri Nouwen's Life of the Beloved, but Ortberg's style is different in that he offers many stories and illustrations so that the truths become more vivid. While the subtitle ("Moving God's Love from your Head to your Heart") is a bit of a misnomer because he doesn't offer practical steps to do that, but the book is really a focus on and testament to God's tremendous love for his people; and in that way it brings that truth to a deeper level in the heart.

Do you want to be happy? Come and see
A few things I know, that we all want to be happy. The other thing I know is that God wants us to be happy. God in his wisdom has given the gift of teaching and fortunately for us one of his gifted teachers has writen this book explaining the key to happiness. Love and loving beyond reason.
I have read many Christian books and have found John Ortberg's Love Beyond Reason the most profitable for my Christian life. To know that Jesus is scandalously ready to forgive. Love means being 'for' the one who is loved. Love delights in and enjoys the one who is loved. Love pays attention. This is how God loves us. God pays attention to us. I could go on and on . Buy this book and come and see.

My life will never be the same
This book has opened doors into my soul, some that are very painful to open. Because of how God spoke to me through this servant of His, I am dealing with some of the areas in my life that I must allow Him to cleanse as I move closer to Him.

In addition, this book has provided me with tools that will help me in my spiritual journey. I can highly recommend this book to those that want to continue the journey toward God, those that aren't afraid to look inside and see what hinders them.

The lessons I learned from this book are so profound that I am going to read it again. You will not waste your money if you buy it.

Lovesong: Becoming a Jew
Published in Paperback by Arcade Publishing (October, 1991)
Author: Julius Lester
Average review score:

he bares his heart
I thought this book was excellent. When I saw this book in the library, I didn't even realize that he is the author of one of my favorite books-To be a slave. I picked up the book because I'm a comparative religion major and I learn best from autobiographies and memoirs-they make me feels like I'm experiancing the religion first hand. Though I was able to reinforce what I knew about Judaism with a visual picture from his words, I was even more impressed with his writing style. I usually read books that will help towards my educational goal only. But this book is a good read, just for its writing style alone. The way he describes his experiances, you get a clear understanding of what he's saying and feel like you know him and converted to Judaism yourself. After reading, I had an urge to visit a synagogue and a trappist monastery ( 2 places he beautifully describes in the book) and I will. I just finished the book today (Wed). I started the book on Friday night and with 2 kids and alot of work managed to finish it so quickly. I don't have spare time to write reviews but I felt compelled to write this one. I have respect for people who reveal themselves so candidly: those who use the pen to strip themselves of a false image. I recommend this to anyone interested in religion especially writers.

Great writer, clear thinker
Mr. Lester is a great writer, and has the gift of objectivity about himself and his family, which is rare. His search for the way to connect to G'd is painfully slow, but joyful in its culmination.

Wonderful Personal Journey
Lester explores writes a revealing and deeply personal memoir of his spiritual searching and arrival at the Jewish faith. I west extremely moved by his candor as he describes his efforts to harmonize the various facets of his identity, as well as his honesty about the pitfalls he faced on the way.

Jews believe that those who choose judaism are not converting, but comming home. Lester's work is wonderful in that it lets the reader join him on this home coming. He willingly reveals the pain and the joy of this personal awakening.

A wonderful read for anyone who struggles with faith and a great message that there can be light at the end of that tunnel.

Living the Questions: Making Sense of the Mess and Mystery of Life
Published in Paperback by Harvest House Publishers, Inc. (July, 1900)
Author: Carolyn Arends
Average review score:

A Christian recording artist's take on life
Singer/songwriter Carolyn Arends shows her versatility by authoring this book, and a fine first effort it is. Similar ground has been covered before by others (Philip Yancey, John Fischer, etc.) but Carolyn writes from the perspective of her own life experiences. Questions and doubts are part of any honest Christian's life, and Arends shares honestly about the uncertainties and fears in her own life, as an artist, wife, and mother. She shows much promise as an author, and it will be interesting to see her growth in this area over the years (although I'm afraid I'll have to pass on her next book, since it is geared toward pregnant women!!)

You'll find yourself in these pages
This book was the right message at the right time in my life. If you've ever experienced the "mess and mystery of life" and asked "Where is God in this?!" or if you're like me, "Okay, God, what in the world was I supposed to learn from that?!"... you'll find a kindred spirit in these pages.

The tone of the book is so far from 10 ways to fix your life, or why aren't you more spiritual... More like - here's some of the mess and mystery I've encountered, and these are the questions I'm asking. Let me share what I'm learning through all of this - surprise! There's beauty to be found amidst the chaos! She expresses herself so beautifully, I agree with the other reviewer, I wanted to read more.

An Awesome Read!
There are times when you finish reading a book not because you want to, but more out of a feeling that you "have to." Then there are those books that you don't want to end. Each page keeps getting better and better, leaving you wanting more.

"Living the Questions: Making Sense of the Mess and Mystery of Life," is such a book. Carolyn Arends' writing is poignant, tender and funny. She is an incredible story teller and has a way of making her story, her journey, seem very much like your own. Each story will leave you saying, "Wow," or "Incredible," under your breath. I don't think "gifted writer" is a fitting description of Carolyn's talents. Somehow even those words don't live up to the depth and breadth of Carolyn's abilities.

I finished this book in two days and promptly got copies for several friends and relatives. This is a book that you immediately want to buy for someone else. Once you read it, you'll understand what I mean. And when you finish it you'll be telling others...

"It's an awesome read!"
